Design Philosophy

Over the years, many clients have asked me the same question what is my 'style' as a decorator? And the answer is always the same it doesn't really matter what my style is.
Now, this may sound a little flippant or sarcastic, but it's the truth it really doesn't matter. When clients engage my services, they are seeking assistance in achieving a specific look for their home, not mine. My goal isn't to make their home look like I live there. And I certainly don't want their home to look like every other home either.
I have clients who want their homes to ooze with the global feel of many cultures, while others prefer clean, contemporary, almost minimalist environments. Then there are those who are pure traditionalists; replete with tapestries and bullion fringe. As each client is different, so should their homes be different. In my mind, the essence of any good designer should be to listen and learn about their clients' desires for their home, and then help them to achieve those desires.
And while you can walk into some homes and know who the decorator was, my philosophy is antithetical to this - I prefer to leave no distinguishing 'signature' behind but instead, to leave the client with a home environment that reflects them; their life, their style, their personality.
So, if I have to call something my 'philosophy' it's simply this
- I listen to my clients.
- I learn from them and about them.
- I help them create a home they can live with and love everyday.
Thank you for taking the time to explore the possibilities.
